Second Pass Weyr
An AU take on the Second Pass, just fifteen years after a Plague swept across the planet, and 28 turns before Thread is meant to fall once more. The Plague, a terrible illness that swept through the entire draconic population, left the Northern population with the belief that both dragons and firelizards had forever been wiped from their planet. However, tucked away in the Southern continent, just over two hundred dragons and their riders are hidden away with their only Queen. Reluctant to become the only saviours of Pern, and unwilling to be attacked by the Pernese population - whether with good intentions or bad - the Riders decided to remain hidden away, keeping their life and dragons secret. A problem with this was presented, however, when the Golden Nirinath clutched and the realisation was made -- Everyone within the Weyr was already bonded to a dragon, and what few were not were children not yet into the double digits, for Katila was a young Weyr. With this realisation, came much harried meetings. Finally, a decision was made. Search Riders would venture forth, and kidnap potential Candidates. In this style, forty three men and women were spirited away to Katila Weyr, aged in their early twenties and thirties, these potential Dragonriders were all ranked as a Sr. Apprentice or higher, bringing not only a new rider and blood to the Weyr, but also new abilities and skills. Hardly everyone was happy to be stolen, of course, and some attempts at escape were made. Before long, however, the clutch on the Sands was Hatching, and fifteen of the seventeen eggs Hatched, finding a lifemate amongst those that were provided. Katila Weyr rejoiced, but still they were worried. Nirinath remained their only Golden dragon.
Your journey began in 215, when the Plague struck, and the next five years were some of the toughest you've ever undergone, living alone on the Southern Continent, fearful for your dragon's life. The year 220 presented new hope, as the last remaining Queen gathered around her her fellows, and Katila Weyr was born. Now, your journey continues in the year 230, as we welcome you with wide arms into the unique world of Second Pass!
