Username: Diogenessbeast
Character Number: 3
Name: Z'anis
Age: 34
carWhere they are from: Silence Hold, Silence Country
Weyr: Silence Weyr
Gender: Male
Sexuality: pansexual, leans to men
Appearance:
Tall and imposing, Zeo is 6'5". His skin is swarthy but rather soft. His features are sharp-- his nose is slightly too large, and slightly hooked, and his brows are heavy and usually furrowed with a frown. The rest of his features are actually quite soft, but the perpetual frown he wears twists them to looking more severe then they are. For example, he has beautiful full lips, but that rarely shows since he's usually pursing them. His hair is dark brown, and he keeps it long and tied back in a ponytail. He usually has a beard, which he keeps immaculately trimmed.
Personality:
Strong, Severe, Serious, Tenacious, Kind of grumpy, Bitter, Sharp, Sharp-witted, very quick thinking, excellent strategist, reasonable diplomat, Goooood at politics and political thinking (though perhaps less so the formal/for show things; he will tolerate these things). Man Of Action. Loyal. Big believer in certain traditions and filial duty and familial loyalty to all that. Proud. Brave. Realistic. Pragmatic. Controlling, Arrogant. Resents what doesn't go his way, but quietly. Tends to look always displeased. Excellent leader. Moderately ambitious, but will be only slightly less happy with a background-leader position (adviser) then a front leading position. Viciously fair. cruel in vengeance. Rarely relaxes. Headstrong, Stubborn-- especially when he believes something is right. Holds grudges, doesn't forgive.

Bonded's Personality:
General Personality:
Modest, Humble, not prone to boasting or even taking credit for his own accomplishments. Doesn't take compliments gracefully; actually feels embarrassed by compliments, usually redirects the conversation when he gets uncomfortable. Gentlemanly, polite, has good manners and treats most others with respect most of the time. Dutiful, Responsible, generally follows the rules but shows a willingness to bend them to a limited extent, only for the sake of his Rider. Self-Controlling when it comes to his emotions, not prone to emotional outbursts. Traditional, old-fashioned, believes that traditions were formed for a reason, and that they should be followed. Somewhat intolerant in certain cases, disapproves of those who break tradition without good reason. His disapproval is generally communicated in a non-verbal fashion, reinforced with the occasional glare or the silent treatment. Curious, Inquisitive, Nosy, likes to keep up to date with the latest news. Shares his Rider's interested in politics, but takes it a step further, sometimes becoming meddlesome by trying to subtly influence political decisions. Nonchalant, Disciplined, outwardly seems unaffected by praise or criticism. A good listener, supportive, will let his Rider vent without giving in to the anger himself. Can be narrow-minded at times; doesn't like to think outside the box. Preachy and verbose, though only when it comes to extolling the virtues of tradition, which is something he continues to be very passionate about.
Somewhat sexist, tends to underestimate the capabilities of females, though he doesn't treat them badly. Tjolnirth just doesn't believe they are as good at certain tasks as males are. He is also rather pessimistic, preferring to believe that negative outcomes are more common than positive ones. To that end, he tends to have low expectations of others, other than his Rider. It's really a defense mechanism, to keep himself mentally prepared in case the worst case scenario ever does happen in any given situation. Cautious, Careful, thinks before taking any action, likes to assess a situation before getting involved in any way. Advises his Rider when he thinks he's being too reckless, but doesn't prevent him from doing what he wants. A strong believer in the concept of tough love, prefers to let others make mistakes so they can learn from them. He's a natural-born leader in some aspects, whose magnanimity and humility can go a long way with others. He's also detail-oriented, able to spot the strengths and weaknesses of other dragons and provide advice on how to compensate for weaknesses; believing a wing is only as strong as its weakest members. However, don't expect him to come up with new ideas or strategies very often, since he is unimaginative and prefers to stick with traditional tried and true methods. Despite being rather hidebound, he's not blunt and will take the diplomatic route, attempting to get his point across without overtly hurting someone's feelings if he can avoid it.
He is both greedy and stingy when it comes to marks, even though he can't physically spend them himself. He would rather hoard them for when they may come in useful, rather than spending marks frivolously, like Stavroth's Rider is known to do. He won't prevent his own Rider from spending marks, but he does keep tabs on the finances to make sure his doesn't spend more than he can afford, or accrue a debt. He still believes in tough love, but he knows his doesn't have the same privileges as Stavroth's chosen. Some dragons might think of Tjolnirth as unapproachable, simply because he is a skeptic and isn't inclined to believe everything he hears unless it's backed up by fact, or by a reliable witness. Rather than being rude about his disbelief, he'll try to avoid the subject altogether, or redirect it to a safer topic of discussion. Sometimes his peers mistake Tjolnirth for being a softie because of his polite manner, but he is protective of his chosen, more like overprotective actually. He will immediately and swiftly come to his Rider's defense, whether it's an argument or an actual fight. They are very close and a threat to his Rider is the one thing that can rouse his ire outside of battle or thread, but he's hardly the only dragon around with that kind of attitude. As much as Tjolnirth loves tradition, the problem with following traditional ideas is that they are sometimes outdated, making some of his methods impractical, at least when put into practice. Overall, he is a noble and somewhat serious dragon, who can be counted on to be there for his Rider when it really matters.
Likes:
- Eating fresh organs after a kill, usually those of a Herdbeast.
- Tradition, it is an important part of his heritage, and he lives by it.
- Music, played by Harpers, anything fast-paced with a good beat.
- Routine, because it gives his life a solid foundation, a structure that he likes to follow.
- Politics, because he finds the interplay to be both amusing and interesting.
- News, keeping informed of current events is important to him.
- Relaxing, especially after threadfall or a tough fight with Raiders.
- Fighting, because he's doing an important service for the Weyr and allowing himself to relax his self-control at the same time.
- Flights, he enjoys the challenge of chasing and proving himself worthy to the female in question.
- Swimming in really cold water his Rider wouldn't be able to tolerate, he finds it refreshing and invigorating.
Dislikes:
- Stavroth, because Tjolnirth strongly disapproves of his behavior and attitude; he can't stand to be around him for long.
- Anyone who breaks with tradition without good reason.
- Wherries, he can't tolerate the feel of feathers in his mouth, plus his allergies don't really endear them to his palate.
- Snobs, especially those that belittle others for not being nobly-born.
- Changes, especially to traditional rules that have been around for a long time.
- His Rider spending marks, especially on anything non-essential.
- Boastful dragons, sees them as insecure and weak-willed.
- Anything Fanciful, including decorative Riding Straps. Seems like a waste to him, especially since he fights both thread and Raiders frequently. Fancy stuff also reminds him too much of Stavroth.
- Really hot weather, because he tends to be vulnerable to heat exhaustion.
- Not getting enough sleep, it makes for a long day.
Habits/Quirks:
- Light sleeper, can be woken up easily, has several rough nights because of this.
- Drags his tail when walking on the ground.
- Allergic to Wherry dander, being near them sends him into sneezing fits.
- Taps his claws to the sound of music.
- Will only explain something once, refuses to repeat himself over again.
- Projects his emotions to his Rider when dreaming.
- Shuffles when he walks, sometimes even drags his feet.
- Sprawls out completely when lying down.
- Glares, with slowly whirling eyes when he disapproves of something.
- Always opens his jaws wide when yawning, sometimes scares people by accident doing that, especially people who are unfamiliar with dragons.
The Bond:
Tjolnirth is close with his Rider; they have a good working relationship and a deep, abiding respect for one another. He is supportive of his Rider, champions his causes, and is reliably there whenever his help is needed. He doesn't always agree with his chosen's opinions, but arguments between them are rather rare. When they do happen, and they will eventually; Tjolnirth will argue at first, then cut off the conversation and leave for a little while before he loses his carefully cultivated self-control. The rare conflict between them usually last no more than a few candlemarks, which is when Tjolnirth inevitably gives in for love of his rider, or a compromise is forged between the two of them. They usually keep in constant mental contact, relaying information to one another, so that they can react quickly if there is a situation that needs their immediate attention. Out in public they show a gruff affection for one another, but avoid showing the open affection the newly-impressed do. Don't expected to see Tjolnirth nudging his Rider in public, or demanding to have his eyeridges scratched, at least not when other people or dragons are around. Their bond has only deepened in the turns they've spent together, and they can look through one another's eyes and communicate very efficiently. If asked to describe it, Tjolnirth's Rider would probably say his dragon is like an older brother to him.
Flights:
An infrequent chaser, won't give chase every time a flight happens but he's not picky about the size. Larger and smaller females are equally likely to draw him in, though for him it's more about substance than looks. If a female has a reputation for short flights without making it challenging, or a female is too snobbish, then he probably won't chase. When it comes to strategy, he lacks in creativity and ingenuity, thought to make up for it he pours his passion into the effort of chasing. He does have a traditional but lesser-know strategy, a method terrans would call drafting. He will initially stay just behind the pack, expending less energy by being pulled along by their combined drag force. He doesn't stay there long, branching off into secondary moves after a little while. He often gives the dragon being chased a compliment or two, though they generally simple compliments rather than fanciful. Poetry is not his cup of klah, and he prefers to avoid using it completely, rather than making a fool out of himself. Mid-way through a flight he will change tactics, preferring to let his actions do the talking for him from that point on. Some day he might find that special someone, but for now he isn't exclusive with any dragon in particular. Like any dragon, he takes rejection badly, but he gets over it after a few days, which is when the memory of a flight begins to seem more distant.
Threadfall:
An avid fighter of thread, sees it as both a duty and a way to vent bottled up feelings of frustration and anger, which are usually held back by his self-control until he's facing thread or Raiders. He can't turn quickly and lacks in the agility department, but that's what his wingmates are for. He's good at working with his fellow dragons, protecting them and being protected in turn. You can count on him to be watchful and alert most of the time, but he's also rather tense because he knows the inherent dangers. Does not show off, he is not a dimglow and strongly disapproves of dragons who take unnecessary risks. Although he won't put himself in harm's way without a good reason, Tjolnirth does have a lot of courage. If it looks like his Rider is going to be hit by thread and there's no time to dodge, then he will try to twist his body to take the thread himself. His theory is that he's larger, and a clump of thread that would completely envelop his Rider would take more time to do serious damage to him, especially if he went *between* directly afterwards. As long as he has time, he is cautious with his flame, double-checking that there isn't a wingmate in the way before he lets loose. He has to be a bit more controlled when fighting thread than Raiders, can't cut quite as loose as he'd like too, but he can live with that.
Raiders:
Beneath his calm exterior lies his slow-building anger, purposefully pent up, and then unleashed onto the Raiders. He becomes sanguinary, visceral, reveling in the tactile sensations of using his claws and teeth. Believes killing Raiders is a tradition in and of itself, reluctant to show any mercy unless his Rider asks it of him. As much as he likes to close for hack-and-slash type combat, Tjolnirth will be cautious initially. He will try several feints first, both to test the competence of his enemy and to see if they have any talents that could be a potential threat. He knows there is strength in numbers, and won't hesitate to call in reinforcements if things start looking grim. He keeps an on his Rider, and he will go berserk if his chosen is injured by a Raider in any way. This is not a dragon that forgives easily, or forgets for that matter. Raiders are no different than thread to him, and he treats them as the same; beings that must be destroyed for the sake of survival.
Mindvoice:
His mindvoice is deep brassy baritone, with a gravelly quality to it. Tjolnirth's mindvoice truly sounds rough and unrefined, emphasized by an after-echo. The voice is sometimes accompanied by mentally projected images of a canyon, with wind sweeping across weather-worn rock., which is symbolic of his general attitude. When angered, his mindvoice can become forceful and the after-echo effect becomes amplified, enough to make it much more noticeable. He speaks rather slowly and articulates each word, but when he talks to Stavroth, he slows the pace down by twice as much, as if the dragon is too much of a dimglow to understand his words at their usual speed.
Scent:
Tjolnirth has never been one for fanciful things, including scented oils. The oil used on his hide is the standard kind, which simply enhances his own natural scent. On a normal day he smells of a mixture of dust, leather, and his own warm musky scent. The scent if reminiscent of Rukbat-warmed rocks, the reddish kind often found in the Igen desert. It is a dry scent, with little indication of moisture, even when he is oiled. Since it is a natural scent; it usually can't be smelled unless someone is within his general vicinity.
Bonded's Appearance:
A large dragon, Tjolnirth falls just short of being in the largest set of dragon ranges for size, and his bulky build can make him appear larger than he actually is. His muzzle is short, wide, and two-toned with a swath of taupe brown sweeping across the top, while a bright shade of mint green encompasses the rest of the upper and lower jaw. His concave cheeks are mint green as well, with the color stopping just below his round faceted eyes. The default color for his eyes are a serene blue-green, though in battle or during threadfall they will darken to red-orange with flecks of other colors. Just above Tjolnirth's eyes are a pair of prominent eyeridges, which have smooth edges.Starting from his eyeridges, encompassing his head knobs, and continuing down in a pattern along the length of his neck, are alternating bands of taupe brown and sienna brown. The back markings are also colored as such, though they are hard to see because they are interlocking with thin edges. He's got a swath of mint green that covers his neck and chest and his thickly-muscled shoulders are a plain shade of steel gray. His impressive pair of wings are reinforced with a lot of muscle around the base, though they are slightly narrower than many people would expect for a dragon of his caste. The main color of his wings is steel gray, which serves as a backdrop for hundreds of thin verdant green lines, ones that form a mesh-like pattern. Taupe brown covers the hide over his wingbones, though it is frequently split up by the verdant green lines. The dragon's front legs, sides, and back legs are all steel gray as well, with a mottling of faint verdant green overtop. All four of Tjolnirth's feet are forest green, while each toe is tipped with a single jagged-edged claw. Tjolnirth's tail is marked with the same overlapping pattern of taupe and sienna brown marked as his neck, while further down the back markings give way to mint green hide. His tail ends in steel gray with faint flecks of forest green. Overall, he is a well-muscled dragon but slow-moving, cautious because of his sheer bulk.

Pet Name: Eilis
Type and Coloring: Fireliard, white
Gender: Female
Size: 10"
Information:
Small, well-muscled, with largeish wings. Mostly white, of course, but with lovely subtle coloration. She has smoke-blue patches of color on her back, the tops of her wings, her tail, and the upper portions of her legs. Each patch of color shows a bit of tabby-like patterning, with darker grey stripes. She has moss-green swirls on the undersides of her wings and her belly, and a matching mask across her face.
Two of her feet have lighter blue “stockings”. Her nose has a dash of bright pink on top.
Eilis is quick in many respects. Quick to anger, quick to forget, quick to be distracted. Also quick in the air.
She is affectionate, though forgetful; it will be easy to earn her love but difficult to maintain it. She’ll need to be reconvinced periodically that you’re worth keeping around.
Curious, adventurous, completely without a sense of fear. No real concept of danger. Doesn’t really dislike much of anything (but being told No will earn her ire).
Will try to eat your food. Constantly.
Will try to sleep in your boots (loves small spaces).

From Silence hold in Silence country, he is the son of a rich trading businessman, but he is a son outside of that marriage, with one of the house's maids. His mother was the milk-nurse of the man's eldest son, and kept the baby's parentage a secret until her death when Zeoranis was 14.
Unsure of how to handle this and upset by the immediate reaction of his father's wife-- which was to begin screaming about having to kick him out-- Zeo left of his own accord and found himself facing life on the streets of Silence Hold's city, which was NOT a good place to be. What's worse, his younger half-brother-- who he had not known was related to him but had been raised alongside him as his milkbrother-- elected to follow him, feeling closer to Zeo then he'd ever felt to his blood-family.
Luckily, Sefeoris had money-- he'd brought it with him-- and a Cunning Plan (that zeo thought was mad). They would go to the weyr and bribe their way into search! Sef managed to pay for them to get to the weyr, but the bribing ended up not being required: a searchdragon met them almost immediately and declared them perfect prospects for candidacy.
Both brothers impressed shortly thereafter.
