Akira
Character Number:
2
Name:
Akira
Age:
27 Turns
Rank:
Junior Weyrwoman
Where they are from:
Silence
Weyr:
Silence Weyr
Gender:
Female
Sexuality:
Heterosexual
Appearance:
Akira has shiny black hair, beautiful green eyes, and a wonderful figure eight build. Her black hair reaches the middle of her back, and kinda just goes where it wants. Yet she does try to keep it out of her way and will often have it pulled back in a braid or pony-tail. Her green eyes are deep, emotional, and soulful. She might not look very strong, but she can hold her own in a fight. She was built for speed, and is pretty light on her feet. She is very feminine looking, but as said before, don't let her looks fool you.
Akira is 5'7" with long, slender legs, and a delicate looking body structure. Her tanned flesh is soft, and her hands are extremely gentle, though, very calloused. Akira's energy shows in every single way that she moves, from the way she walks, to the way she holds herself with pride. She exudes a sense of quite dignity, and utter calmness. Don't get me wrong, she does have a temper. When she is relaxed, it is kinda like the calm before the storm. You know something is coming, you just don't know when it's gonna hit. She still has the scars on her right arm from where Amaranth clawed her.
Personality:
Akira is very adventurous, and loves to explore the things around her. Though, it does help that she is also extremely curious, and wants to know everything she can about anything and everything. She is a very patient person, and actually quite friendly. She is more likely to walk up to a complete stranger and shake their hand, then try to avoid them. She doesn't really hold grudges, though, she is very capable of it. This is mainly because she is actually a pretty forgiving person, and would rather make friends than enemies anyways.
Akira is extremely good with children, well, as long as she can send them home to their own families that is. She likes kids and all, but she would rather not have to deal with them ALL the time. She is a very loyal friend, and would do anything for her friends and family. One of her favorite sayings is, "If you wouldn't do it for your family or your friends, then who would you do it for?" she isn't sure where she heard that before, but ever since she was a child, that's been her personal motto. She doesn't get angry very often, but when she does, watch out! She will take her anger out on just about anything.
Even though Akira can be quite meaner than the devil when she's upset, it takes a LOT to get her upset in the first place. After she has calmed down, she is normally very contrite, and will apologize very thoroughly. She doesn't like to get upset, and does everything she can to prevent it. She is very trustworthy, and knows how to keep secrets. Once she knows someone's secret, she'll take it to her grave. She wouldn't do anything to intentionally betray someone's trust. No matter who they are, or what they do.
Akira is a very hard working person, and never leaves a job half-finished. If she is ordered to, she will be quite fidgety, and distracted, until she gets to finish whatever it was she had been working on. She has been that way all her life, and so far, has shown no signs of changing. She can have a single-track mind at times, especially when she is working on something that she finds quite interesting. The one thing that can take her mind off of work is...well...food. This girl can eat, and eat, and eat, and never get tired of food.
Though, thanks to her energetic personality, Akira never really gains too much weight from eating so much. That's something she truly is grateful for. Though, she has been told by quite a few people that some day all that food will catch up with her. Even though she doesn't really believe them, she has stopped eating as much as she did when she was a teenager, and had a ton of free time. She also eats healthier, and can often be found with some sort of fruity snack keeping her occupied.

Bonded's Size in Feet:
49ft.
Bonded's Age:
51/2 Turns
Bonded's Personality:
Amaranth can have a pretty bad temper at times. Yet she seems to have calmed down a lot since the day she had clawed at Akira. She has problems with people disrespecting her, which usually sets off her temper. She demands respect from just about everyone. Amaranth is extremely protective, and ever since the day that her and Akira fought, she has been a little overly protective of her. Amaranth has a very big soft spot for dragonets, and young children.
When a young child asks her to do something, or asks her for something, she normally gives in. Amaranth loves attention, and will usually try to get it anyway possible, which often gets her in trouble with Akira. Even though she can have a bad temper, she is actually very level-headed in stressful situations. She can also be quite playful, and devious. She absolutely LOVES to play jokes on others, and even though they are normally with the best of intentions, they can sometimes get the large female in a lot of trouble.
Bonded's Appearance:
Amaranth is a very, VERY, large dragon. Yet her size doesn't hinder her in the least. Her wing muscles are extremely strong, and while it does take a bit of energy to get this large dragon off the ground once she's in the sky you wouldn't think she's as large as she is. With all that muscle she actually looks really delicate, and feminine. Her leathery red wings are kept close to her body when she is on the ground, and her whip-like tail is always slowly moving back and forth behind the large female.
Amaranth's large claws are kept sharp and shining, yet they are trimmed enough so that they do not mess with the way that she walks. She is a typical red in color that actually fades to dark red as you get closer to her underside. Her large wings are the same dark red as her underside. Other than her wings, her hide is unmarked. She takes great pride in the way her hide looks, which means that she keeps it clean, and shining.
History
Akira's parents were Harper's, and they lived in a cot-hold close to Silence Weyr. So she grew up close to the dragons and riders. She remembered that her parents would often leave to entertain the riders at the Weyr. Yet, even way back then, she hated events that meant she had to dance. Which meant she stayed home most of the time, but the times she did go, she went to see the dragons. She had often dreamed of impressing a hatchling dragon. She remembered hearing hear parents talk about the stories they knew. She loved the ones they would tell her about the dragon riders of turns past. She remembered lying in bed, dreaming about being a dragon rider.
As Akira grew older, her love of dragons grew stronger. She would sit outside, and watched as the dragons would fly, and they would play around in the sky. She always thought it was a beautiful site to witness, but when the dragons flew too high for her to see she would start imagining what it would be like to be a dragon flying so high up in the sky. She remembered how her parents would always wish she would become a Harper, but they knew that no matter what they did, she would find a way to become a rider. So they started taking her to the Weyr to see how they did things. Those were some of the greatest years of her life.
Things started going wrong after Akira turned fifteen. Her parents were on their way to another party when things went horribly wrong. Out of nowhere, a cart being pulled by some runner beats spooked, and headed straight for them, and the others that were traveling with them. Akira didn't find out about it till the only survivors of the attack came and told her. She didn't know what to do, or where to go. She stayed in her family home for a few days, but when no one came, she left the house, and never looked back. She went to the Weyr, hoping that they would take her in. Which they did, and she soon became one of five other female candidates.
After two years of training Akira finally had a chance to impress a dragon. All of the candidates had stood on those hot sands waiting for the large clutch to hatch, and reveal it's hidden treasures. The last to hatch was actually the largest of the clutch, which had people in the stands worried. Yet when everyone saw the large hatchling that came out, all that worrying was replaced with excitement. It was finally time for the candidates to impress, and Akira seemed to be the calmest of the female candidates. The large dragonet slowly made her way to the candidates after shaking off all the goo she could from her red hide.
She stopped, and looked at each of the candidates closely before finally choosing the one she was going to spend the rest of her life with. Akira had almost fainted when she heard the female demanding to be fed. She had fallen on her knees in front of the dragonet, which hadn't impressed the female. The red hatchling took her large left claw and swiped it across Akira's right arm. She screamed and covered her bleeding arm with her other hand. The other girls had ran the moment they saw the dragon hit the girl she had impressed. It wasn't long before the healer's had arrived, and started to treat her wound. They kept telling her that she would be fine.
Though, Akira wasn't really paying much attention to them, since she had a pair of orange/red eyes glaring at her. She had thanked the healers when they finally finished with her, and then hurried over to the feeding pales to feed the upset dragonet. After the dragonet was full Akira started scolding the red female. The two of them were practically screaming at each other before they were distracted by the Weyrwoman and her dragon. They both apologized, and went where they were told. The two of them were best friends from that time on, they still fight once a while, but no one ever gets hurt. Akira's arm healed quickly, and she was extremely happy when the healer's told her that she would be able to do everything that a normal weyrling pair would be able to.
From that day on the turns seemed to just fly by. Akira and Amaranth were soon doing everything they could to help out the Weyr. One day they had been asked by the Head Woman if they would be willing to help Noraali with some paperwork. It seemed like everyone in the Weyr was extremely busy back then. Of course Akira agreed, though, Amaranth wasn't sure what she could do to help, so she just stayed on her couch, and relaxed. While Amaranth was relaxing, Akira was making her way to where the Head Woman told her Noraali was. She was nervous about meeting the Junior Weyrwoman, and hopped she would make a good impression.
Though, how the smaller dragon had clutched such a large female still boggled Akira's mind. She figured that that wasn't the strangest thing to ever happen in Silence, so she just shrugged it off, and calmed herself before knocking on the door to the records room. She had politely introduced herself to the Weyrwoman when she had acknowledged her, and was surprised by the happy greeting she received. She had thought the Weyrwoman would have been a little more judgementle about who was going to help her. She finally built up the currarge to ask her what she would like her to do for her. When Noraali asked her to help return some of the old records to their proper places, Akira set to work very diligently.
Soon enough Akira had been "enlisted" to help the Junior Weyrwoman whenever she needed it. She was always glad to help, though, some of the tasks started to seem a little tedious to the young woman. But she never complained, and did as she was told. She did her best to help Noraali whenever she could, be this by doing menial chores for her, or giving her some helpful advise, to even letting the woman yell at her just to make her feel better. Of course, Akira never took any of it personally. She used to, and still does, believe that being in charge of running a Weyr could be quite stressful, and liked to help the Junior Weyrwoman in anyway possible. Soon enough she was sitting on the sands with Amaranth with one of the large females clutches when she was asked a very strange, but grand, question.
Akira had been asked if she would be Noraali's Junior Weyrwoman since she did so much to help her. At first Akira denied the request. She didn't think she was suited for the job, but when Amaranth firmly scolded her, she accepted gratefully. She had never thought that such a wonderful thing could have come from the terrible even that had caused her to come to the Weyr in the first place. She was soon learning to live life as the Junior Weyrwoman of Silence Weyr. She was happy of course, but there had been times when all she wanted was to go back in time, and be with her parents once again. Then she would feel the comforting presence of her dragon, and all thoughts of the past would disappear. Now, her and Amaranth have been in this position for two turns, and are still doing their best to help whenever they can.

Akira sighed as she sat at one of the many tables in the dining hall. She still had a mountain of paper work to do, and she has been putting it off for quite a while. She knew she needed to get it done, she just didn't feel like copying down all those old records. Oh well, she had agreed to do it, and by the first shell she was going to do it! She shook her head, and took another drink of water. this was going to be a long day.
Mine a young rider is looking for you. Amaranth's clear voice made Akira jump. She shook her head. Even after all the turns that they had spent together, the sudden appearance of the strong voice still surprised her. Alright Ama. Tell them I'm here. She felt her dragon's acknowledgment, and waited to see who was looking for her. Well, that and what they needed her for.
Akira smiled sweetly when she saw that it was one of the new, younger, transfers. Greetings M'nl, how may I help you? She stood up, and gestured for the young man sit down across the table from her so that they could do business. I need some advice ma'am. The young man seemed hesitant, so Akira offered him some of the food she had sitting in front of her. There was more than enough for the two of them to share, and she probably wouldn't have been able to eat it all anyways.
What is M'nl? I'm here to help so don't hesitate to ask me anything. She smiled gently, and tried to make the young man feel a little more comfortable. Thank you ma'am. It's just...I'm not so sure I fit in here. It was plain to see that the young rider hadn't adjusted to his life in the Weyr, as easily as some of the other transfers had. Akira felt sympathetic, she knew how hard it could be to try and fit in when you're the new guy.
Don't worry M'nl. Not everyone here was born here you know. It takes time to adjust. For some that time is short, and for others it takes a little longer. You just have to be yourself, and I'm sure you'll fit right it. Akira tilted her head as she spoke. It kinda looked as though she really was thinking everything through before speaking to him. After all, what she said could change this man's mind about being in Silence. She didn't want to be the reason another rider left after all.
M'nl seemed to brighten up after that. Thank you so much Akira! He nodded his head agressively as he spoke. Which made Akira giggle. The young man smiled, and stood up to leave. Come to me whenever you want M'nl. I'm glad to help out. She smiled and waved as the young man walked out of the dining halls. It looked to her like the rider was a lot more confident in his own abilities now. Something Akira still wasn't sure about.
Mine you need to take your own advice. You are a great leader. The other's see that, why can't you? Amaranth's blunt words stung slightly, and made Akira wince. I know Ama. I'm still learning, we just need to be paitent. She knew her dragon wouldn't like that excuse, but it worked...for now. Akira picked up what was left of her meal, and took the dishes to get washed. After dropping them off, she went to her room where she had a very large stack of papers waiting for her.
