In a world where the poor can be killed without warning and the rich burn each other’s mansions, the only hope comes from the same otherworldly power that enables their oppressive life.
Allomancy allows its users to swallow metals and use them to fuel fantastic abilities. Those powers, which range from emotional control to distortion of time, are the primary tool of the skaa rebellion. A slipshod but determined organization, the rebellion seeks to overthrow the abusive government and win some freedom for the enslaved skaa.
But the odds are stacked against them. At the head of the regime sits the Lord Ruler, an immortal Allomancer so powerful he is revered as a god. Monstrous creatures with spikes in their eyes hunt gifted skaa—as well as any who happen to get in the way. Meanwhile, the noble houses are at war, assassinating each other even as they dance together at extravagant balls—which, though it distracts the government, makes day-to-day life more dangerous for everyone.
Will you lie low and try to live your life in peace? Will you go to war with your own social class and maintain the status quo by killing skaa as you please? Or—riskiest of all—will you join the fight for freedom? |
